Renal DTPA Scan

A renal DTPA scan is a nuclear medicine exam in which a small amount of radioactive material (radioisotope) is used to measure the function of the kidneys, to see how the left and right kidney work comparatively.


Indication

  • PUJ obstruction.

  • Pyeloplasty.

  • For GFR evaluation.

  • For prospective renal donar.


Acquisition Parameter As Per NITS

  • The acquisition will be 20 mins durations, the patient will be position under the parallel hole collimator.

  • The matrix for flow phase 64x64, for functional phase 128x128.

  • The pre injection counts and post injection counts will be taken.

  • The fruesamide injection will be given either in initial or after 10 mins of the scan.
